Ford F-150 Trucks “Most American”

Ford F-150 Did it again!  For the fifth consecutive time, Ford’s F-150 has claimed the top spot on the Cars.com American-Made Index.

What exactly is the American-Made index you ask?

The index is a semi annual ranking of vehicles deemed most American based on American production, the percentage of domestic parts and American sales volume.

Domestic-parts content is based on data that appears alongside the window sticker of new cars as a result of the American Automobile Labeling Act, enacted in 1994.

The AALA mandates that virtually every new car display the percentage, by cost, of its parts that originated in the U.S. and Canada. Only those vehicles with a domestic-parts content rating of 75 percent or higher are eligible for the American-Made Index.

In addition to holding the top spot on Cars.com’s American-Made Index, Ford was chosen by consumers as the most-American automaker, according to a recent survey conducted by Cars.com.

In the survey, 49 percent of respondents perceived Ford to be the most-American manufacturer. Chevrolet ranked second, with 29 percent of participants calling it the most-American automaker. In keeping with consumer perception, vehicles from Ford and Chevrolet’sparent, GM, comprised more than half of this year’s American-Made Index.

Consumer attitudes about domestic versus foreign cars made their choices vary greatly, according to the same Cars.com survey. While most say their buying habits aren’t influenced by where a car is made, 27 percent of consumers said they would only consider buying American-made vehicles, and 9 percent would only consider foreign-made cars.

Newcomers to the July 2008 American-Made Index include the Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Sebring. According to Cars.com, the 2008 Odyssey’s domestic-parts content rating went up to 75 percent from the ’07’s 70 percent, which combined with strong sales figures to raise the vehicle to No. 7 on the list. Chrysler’s strongest sellers, the Dodge Ram and Grand Caravan, have never appeared on the Index due to low domestic content or assembly in Canada, but its Michigan-built Sebring sedan and convertible made it to ninth place.

Ford’s New 2008 F-150 Is it Right for You?

Ford 2008 F-150

The new Ford 2008 F-150 offers plenty of models for every occasion or occupation.  Starting in at $20,000 you’re sure to find the pickup that’s right for you.

Ford’s line-up offers too many options and features to mention.  Of course they offer the V6 and V8 engines along with both automatic and manual transmissions.  Nearly every package is available in two or four wheel drive.  You can even go green and purchase the E85 which is compatible with ethanol.

The F-150 is still one of the most comfortable vehicles in its class, coupled with its easy-to-drive feature, makes the new 2008 pickup the one to beat again this year.

The smallest, less expensive F-150 still offers plenty of bang for the buck, while still leaving room for customization all the while making it affordable.  How do they do that?

This year they added some much sought after features such as rear-hinged side access doors which allow you the ability to reach everything behind the seat.  Also included in the premium models are two-tone leather seats, polished 22-inch wheels and other special touches you’ve come to expect from the Ford F150.

2008 marks the first availability of an XL-grade SuperCrew with 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed: maximum people space with a work truck ethic. Detail changes for 2008 run the gamut from functional to decorative, the latter a Wheels and Stripes package for STX models, the former a standard tachometer for XL and STX with manual transmission, tire pressure monitors on the heavy-duty package, plus the availability of a cargo management system, remote start, telescoping towing mirrors, and a rearview camera (that does not require purchase of a navigation system).

What good is a pickup if it has a skimpy bed?  The Ford F-150 half-ton pickup offers one of the deepest beds in the half-ton pickup lineup.  You never have to worry about having enough room to haul your gear again.   It also boasts a large cargo volume and a maximum payload rating of 3,050 pounds. A properly equipped Regular Cab F-150 is rated to tow up to 11,000 pounds; other models max out in the 9000-pound range.

The bottom line is, if you need a tough, dependable work horse truck that will not leave you stranded, then the new 2008 Ford F-150 is the truck for you.
